Real Talk Are Pantyhose Still Required Work Wear

Real Talk Are Pantyhose Still Required Work Wear Deciding how to dress properly for a job interview can be hard, which is whyone FGBerasked theCommunityfor advice.Do I need to wear pantyhose? she asked.I have a job interview today at a company that is more formal than where Im used to working. Do I need to wear hose? (Note I HATE hose. I find them uncomfortable and expensive, and they always run), she continued.FGBers instantly responded to offer advice on the hose situation.I would sway away from wearing uncomfortable clothes and choose an outfit that makes you feel confident, one woman said.I dont think you should ever feel like you have to wear pantyhose to a job interview, no matter how formal the work attire is, another responded.I assume weather is not an issue. I wear tights in winter when I wear a dress back East if Im there for some sort of formal business occasion. Otherwise, no, a third wrote. The general conclusion? While pantyhose used to be necessary in professional woma ns work wardrobe, this is no longer the case in most places. You can dress in a formal way without wearing pantyhose, and you should not worry about being docked on your interview performance because of it.If you loathe pantyhose like the rest of the world, dont feel pressured to don them trust me, fellow FGBers will support you.I remember being in denial about pantyhose, one said. I tried to tell myself that they were comfortable. They definitely are not. Id ditch the stockings.I somehow always manage to rip them, even when Im solely focused on trying to not rip them, another wrote. And a third put it best when she said No, pantyhose are out of fashion anyway. You should always work to feel comfortable in professional settings, especially in an uncomfortable situation like a job interview. You want to feel your best so you can perform your best and focus on the interview, not whether or not there is a run in your hose.As one FGBer said be yourself. In 1980, I was just returning from teaching in South America. I was getting married and needed a job in the good old USA. So, I went on an interview with what was considered a VERY traditional company. I was used to being very casual but was told to pull my long hair into a bun, put on a very tailored blue suit with a white shirt and hose. Well, the day of the interview, I decided I had to be true to myself. So, I wore a v-neck off-white winter dress with a blue velvet jacket and my hair flowing (and, no hose) They had interviewed 30 people before me, but I was hired. I retired, after 31 years, from said company, and they ALWAYS let me be myself. I now work with them with their new hires, coaching and beratung them. My unsolicited advice love who you are, love what you do, and you will be the best at not only your daily work life, but also your personal lifeHave questions? Stuck in a rut at work?
